The recent case where parents with a child having Down’s Syndrome were excluded from migrating permanently to Australia has aroused much emotion. It is discrimination against immigration applicants who may not provide net economic benefits to Australia if they are awarded migrant status.

According to an article published on nbc4.com Prince William County police (in Virginia) have been targeting undocumented immigrants at an alarming rate. I had no idea there were even enough undocumented immigrants in Virginia to allow for police to “target” them. But leave it to the bigots and racists in Virginia to find em and “target” them. So… it seems to me that since 98% of the criminals charged, are either documented immigrants or citizens… the police are “targeting” the wrong people. Why focus on the portion of the population that gets charged 2% of the time, when there is a segment of the population that makes up 98% of the charges that are levied.

An article from the Immigration Policy Center points out what could happen when police try to enforce the ridiculous immigration laws in the United States. According to a report published by the Immigration Policy Center and written by the East Valley Tribune the rusults of this (obviously racist) policy change are laughable. Everything from arrest rates falling, response times rising. Read the article, it’s sad… that’s what they get.

In the archives of local institutions, Juan Aranda’s life is firmly rooted in this small south Texas town.
